What would happen If Gershwin and the Yellow Magic Orchestra had a baby? Ponzu Island... Elishevsky (Mr. Ponzu) has cultivated a sound which ranges from Melodic Electronica, to Electronic Disco, to Jazz infused electronic lounge... A fruity voyage, to be sure. Ponzu hits notes of 90’s video game music, but miraculously manages to avoid sounding kitsch. Instead of indulging in the overblown nostalgia 8-bit nerdom, Ponzu Island’s music is anchored by simple yet poignant Jazz progressions, 7th, 9th and diminished chords define the Ponzu sound.

5 years after Ponzu Island’s huge debut with the iconic tune “Super Koto”, the Australian mysterious producer is back with the release of his much awaited long play album “Welcome to Ponzu Island”. 9 tracks of pure analog delight which runs for 50 minutes. A unique blend of house, disco and electro makes this album something different and we feel in another era, like a breeze of fresh air while we are kindly being transported in time.
